Teacher Training Policies

Please read through the following policies carefully and sign where requested (download & print attached document), indicating you have read and understand the policies of this program.

Requirements for Certification

  1. All requirements need to be completed in a two-year period, including any makeup weekends, 100 documented yoga classes, homework, practicums, and completed exam.
  2. A total of 100 yoga classes must be documented and handed in with dates, times, and teachers. Half (50) of those classes must be with Susi Amendola. This ensures continuity of the program and content reinforcement.
  3. All fees must be paid in full.
  4. This certificate allows you to be eligible to apply for Yoga Alliance registration.

Correspondence

  1. Most of our correspondences will be by email. Please check your email regularly during the training months as we may need to communicate changes in time, location or other pertinent information.
  2. Please inform us if your address, email or phone numbers change.

Attendance

  1. Teacher trainees are to be present at all training weekends. If there is a part of the weekend that you know you will miss please email the director (Susi) at omhamyam@cox.net, and notify your mentor. If you miss due to illness, please call and email as soon as possible.
  2. Teacher trainees may miss one day of a training weekend, or two half days without being required to make up the time. It is required however, that students inform their mentor by phone and by email of missed class time due to illness or other circumstances. The trainee is also required to get notes for missed class time from a classmate.
  3. If a whole weekend is missed, it will need to be made up the following year before a certificate will be awarded. It is the trainee’s responsibility to check the upcoming schedule and register for the missed session.
  4. Payment is still required for any missed class time or missed weekends. You will not be asked to pay again the following year when you make up the session.
  5. Snow/bad weather: We’ve never yet had to cancel class because of heavy snowfall; however, we do have a snow policy. If there is a heavy snowfall that makes transportation impossible, please contact your mentor for our makeup class decision. We most likely will not cancel the entire weekend, as we have a curriculum to follow in order to grant a 200 hour certificate. We will try to add the additional hours at the end of the program.

Trainee Conduct

  1. We ask that you don’t use the program contacts or the weekends to market or advertise your own programs, businesses, materials, or services. It can make connecting with others an uncomfortable experience.
  2. You will have time during breaks and lunch to make calls. Please turn off cell phone and pagers before class begins.
  3. Please save text messaging for the breaks.
  4. If you need to arrive late, please be mindful and respectful of the students and the teacher as you enter.

Tuition/Payment

  1. Tuition in full is $2600. A minimum $280 deposit (or payment in full) is required in the month of September. The remaining balance can be paid before the start of the October session.
  2. Training fees can be put on a payment schedule. The cost of the program if you are making payments is $2800. The schedule for 2008 is a 10 month plan starting with a deposit payment of $280 in September, and 9 more payments of $280 each through June of 2009.
  3. Please make checks payable to: Susi Amendola, and send the checks to 2032 N 50th Avenue, Omaha, NE 68104.
  4. Payments are expected by the first of every month. We try not to handle money during the training sessions with the exception of book order payments to the mentors. (Those checks should be made to OYBC.)
  5. By signing this agreement you are responsible for the full teacher training program tuition.
  6. We do understand that life changes arise and we will honor your tuition payments for any makeup sessions in the following year only. You must pre-register for any of the makeup sessions to insure your space in the class.
  7. Due to the changing content of the program, as of October, 2008, we will honor your weekend training hours and homework assignments for a two-year period only. We will no longer allow students to carry over for more than a two-year time period from start to completion for a certificate.

Refund Policy

  1. To best serve the needs of our students, we have created an intimate learning environment and have a limited number of spaces available in the program. We want this program to be a good fit for you, so we ask that you take the time you need in advance to ensure your commitment to the program.
  2. Due to the content and continuity of the program, we are unable to give your space to another person once the program has started; therefore, a nine-month commitment is expected and no refunds will be given once the program has begun.

Continuing Education Units

  1. We will ask for continuing education hours each year. Please check the most current information regarding CEUs for the Omaha Yoga and Bodywork Center.
  2. Yoga Alliance also requires CEUs of their registrants. Please check their website for details at www.yogaalliance.com

Additional Expenses

  1. The books we recommend for study are not included in the tuition cost.
  2. The 100 Yoga classes which are required (in addition to the 9 month program) for certification are not included in the tuition price. They can be taken in advance of the training, during the training, or after, but must be completed within the two-year period to receive certification.
  3. Yoga Alliance application fees are a separate expense and are not covered by your tuition to this program. Please see their website for additional information: www.yogaalliance.com
